I guess I’ve been in the patriotic mood lately with Memorial Day on the horizon and Independence Day not so far behind, so that’s right where my mind went when I saw the newest Mojo Monday sketch challenge.
I really like rustic papers when it comes to stars and stripes, but I actually have VERY little patriotic paper. *Gasp* A shocker, I know. In order to achieve my desired look, I roughed up, painted and/or inked everything I used to give this card a tattered look. With the addition of the raffia and the stitching, it kind of has that “down home” feel.

It is rare to see patriotic cards, especially Independence Day-themed ones these days, and I am so glad that you have made one. July 4th is also my wedding anniversary…so there will always be fireworks of some sort (giggles) 🙂 I like the rustic appearance of your card and the denim background/designer series paper. It all works together so well.

I’m so glad you like the card, Libby. I love all the patriotic holidays, but don’t tend to send many cards (hence the lack of paper in my stash). Maybe this will be the beginning of something new. Thanks for stopping by!!
