Saturday Sparks: Back-to-School Teacher Bribes

It’s that time of year again, where we scurry around gathering supplies for our school bound children, map out where they are headed on day one and how best to get them there, snap a few photos for posterity’s sake and maybe even shed a tear or two as we send them off for yet another nine months of being looked after by another human being. Not to depress any of you mamas out there, but there is a very good chance that your child’s teacher will spend more waking hours each week with your little person than you will. If there was any reason to salute, say thanks to or bribe teachers each year it might be for their simple time investment (and depending on the child, some of us may need to bribe on a more regular basis than others). *grin*

I personally am horrible at preparing my little man for school, with all the supply shopping, lunch prepping and simple logistics of switching from summer mode to school schedule, that thinking ahead for a proper teacher gift usually doesn’t happen in a timely manner. Maybe this is why I have decided that welcome back teacher gifts don’t have to happen on day one of the new school year. After all, there is so much going on those first couple of days that a teacher gift might be better appreciated a few days after the fact. See what I did there? I am VERY good at justifying my procrastination!

Okay, so if you are gripping an oar next to me in a very slow boat it’s not too late to pull together an awesome back-to-school gift for your child’s teacher. This gift doesn’t have to be elaborate or even expensive, but simply a gesture of appreciation for the year ahead. If you need a little creative boost because your mama brain is still on summer vacation, then today’s post is perfect for you.
