Be(e) Mine Valentine

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner; and if you’re looking for a bit of homemade inspiration, I hope you will take a quick peek at my latest card creation. I originally made this card for the January online crop at Scrapbook Generation and since I went with a Valentine theme I definitely had to share.

I love hexagons, but it’s always hard for me to see a group of them without thinking beehives and bees. Hence, the “Be(e) Mine” sentiment for February’s celebration of love. Too cheezy??? Oh, cheese. That’s another good theme for a later date!

I used a combination of two 6×6 paper pads from My Mind’s Eye to create this cute card — Lost & Found and Happy Day. The card base is a random piece of light gray cardstock and the inking around the edges is Antique Pewter by Color Box. This just might be my new favorite ink color! It’s a great mix of gray and brown. I used a hexagon punch to create the five shapes and popped up a couple of them for some added dimension. I would love to tell you who manufactured the bee sticker and the “mine” stamp, but their packaging apparently didn’t fit into my storage system. Yes, I have a system. . . most of the time.

When I put all the pieces together, I came up with a cute card full of texture and subtle color. This version might be a bit feminine, but simple changes in paper choices could make it appropriate for anyone. I would love to see your take on it!

    1. I know I missed your birthday hint, but at least I tracked down a hexagon while you were in town. Who knew those were so difficult to come by these days!
