A Boo-tiful Color Throwdown Card

A Boo-tiful Color Throwdown Card

color throwdown

swatch414I’m playing along with the Color Throwdown card challenge again this week and decided to continue the Halloween groove I’ve been in lately with a cute little monster card. I used several shades of gray and added in the aqua and lime green for a nice color combination. The papers are from several different sources, as are the stamps; and as usual, I inked all the edges before adhering.

I trimmed the front of the card short for an added bit of interest and added a dark gray sheet on the inside of the card. I also added some lime green sparkles for the monster’s eyes and lime green twine around the middle for some extra interest.

I think this Halloween greeting is just silly enough to send to a child but it’s still cool enough for adults to enjoy also.

Fill a Milk Jar for Pop of Kitchen Color

Fill a Milk Jar for Pop of Kitchen Color

milk jar

I love this milk jar turned Halloween treat, because it doubles as festive decoration and jar of yumminess perfect for your kitchen all month long. I swear I can’t keep my son’s hands out of it. Even if you don’t normally decorate your food prep place for this spooky holiday, it’s nice to add a pop of color to the room.

I originally purchased this particular milk jar filled with red, white and blue gumballs just in time for the Fourth of July, so I can’t really take creative ownership of this snappy idea. Soon after summer vanished, I soaked off the manufacturer labels and decided I could fill the empty container with whatever festiveness was coming my way.

Your local party supply store most likely stocks gumballs in every color, so picking something for your holiday of choice should be easy. If you don’t like gum, you can also fill it with those candy-coated colored chocolate balls or anything else holiday related. By the way, if you plan to use gumballs I suggest a jar with an airtight lid, because those little suckers can get hard as a rock when left out in the open (your dental insurance will thank me).

Autumn Crisp Card

card challenge

mojo468It was another day at home for my child on the mend and myself, but we did manage to get a bit creative about mid-morning. I used the Mojo Monday weekly challenge as my inspiration to create a fun fall card using the Autumn Crisp paper pad from American Crafts.

I really liked the sketch this week and stayed pretty true to the design. I used four different patterned papers and inked all the edges. I also added some extra bling with some sequins and a leaf brad that I’ve had forever in a box. The fall sentiment came from my stash of stamps and it was a perfect size for that empty spot. Everything came together nicely on a piece of kraft paper and I can’t wait to stick this one in an envelope and send to a friend.
