What are Your Favorite Christmas Songs?

Christmas songs

I recently asked my family to come up with their five favorite Christmas songs for a scrapbook layout I was creating, but what should have been a quick little task (at least for my son and me) turned into a two week struggle for my husband. His excuse, and I do get it, was that as he listened to the 24/7 Christmas radio stations each day he rediscovered some forgotten favorites and a list of only five was really just not fair. . . so he finally gave me a list of seven. So not the assignment, but I took it, ignored one and added another to my own!

So here is how my family’s lists of five six favorite Christmas songs all “played” out. What are your favorites?

My Favorite Christmas Songs

  • O Holy Night
  • Do You Hear What I Hear
  • Do They Know It’s Christmas
  • Christmas Canon
  • The Christmas Song (Nat King Cole version)
  • Carol of the Bells

My Six-Year-Old Son’s Favorite Christmas Songs

  • Jingle Bells
  • Jingle Bells, Batman Smells (completely different version than the original)
  • Santa Claus is Coming to Town
  • Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
  • Feliz Navidad
  • Amazing Grace (which he insists IS a Christmas song)

My Husband’s Favorite Christmas Songs

  • Where are you Christmas
  • Angels We Have Heard on High
  • Let There Be Peace on Earth
  • O Come All Ye Faithful
  • O Come O Come Emmanuel
  • What Child is This
I nixed “Do You Hear What I Hear” from his list since he was over quota and it was already on mine.

Saturday Sparks — A Christmas Star is Born

Saturday Sparks — A Christmas Star is Born

When I think of Christmas decorations or crafts, stars naturally come to mind. This basic shape can be created over and over to accommodate so many different design styles, uses and moods. Today I have gathered several ideas for the Christmas star (of course you can use them for whatever holiday or daily idea you have in mind) to hopefully get your creative self going. If you would like to add your own favorite star to the list, please post in the comments so that all can see.  Merry Christmas and may a “star be born.”

Fresh Snow Flurries and Family Fun

Fresh Snow Flurries and Family Fun

I’m not sure one ever outgrows the excitement of Winter’s first snow. . . now some of us get over it much more quickly than others, but for children even the slightest flurry is cause to pounce about in the cold.

The first words out of my son’s grinning face as he stepped off the school bus were, “It’s snowing!” Yes indeed, today was our first real snow in KC and even at that it barely dusted the ground in select spots, but that was enough to make my little man happy. That boy played outside until his fingers were down right frigid.

He plowed snow with his Lego Advent calendar character, drew designs with a stick and traipsed around in the backyard until I forced him to go see Moana in 3D with me (his first 3D movie ever by the way). So let’s see, he got out of school two hours early, played in freshly fallen snow and saw a movie with his mama. . . life is really a struggle at our house right now. *grin*

Moana in 3D

I hope your Wednesday was as good as ours and you are making some special memories this holiday season. Take a little extra time to enjoy your family and appreciate the small everyday blessings of life, like freshly fallen snow flurries. . . or the wonders of 3D technology.
