Last week was an exciting one in the chicken coop at the Three-Acre Wood. Our spring chickens (it had to be said) started laying some tiny little eggs, and our Ameraucana hens even got in on the action with their lovely eggs of pale blue.

Vacation Bible School Sneaked Up on Me

Vacation Bible School sneaked up on me this year and for the first time in a very long time I wasn’t exhausted before day one. After four years of coordinating the event at our local church and many more as craft girl and designated decorator, I finally handed the reins to somebody, anybody, else. I always have a blast at Vacation Bible School and consistently have been blessed by doing what I did, but it was finally time to pass along those VBS blessings to someone else.

Do you ever have one of those lazy summer evenings that just strike you as being special for absolutely no particular reason? Maybe it’s the mere existence of a rare night with nowhere to be, perhaps it’s a break in the weather, or maybe it’s just a good meal off the grill and dinner together that makes these summer evenings so special. Friday was one of those nights.
