    Red Hearts and Ribbon Valentine Card

    I’m leaning toward love with this Valentine card for this week’s Mojo Monday challenge. When I first saw the sketch, I immediately thought of red hearts and ribbon. . . and this is how it all turned out. Yep, red hearts and ribbon. I love black backgrounds on my Valentine cards, because it makes the reds really pop. I’ve had this paper for quite some time and really couldn’t even begin to tell you the make or model, but I really wish I had some more. Unfortunately I’m working with scraps here, folks.     Firefly Dreams

    I couldn’t help but take a few moments to create a card for the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge. It seemed so simple. . . until I picked my shape. Of course it all took on a life of its own, but I conquered it in the end. I used my mason jar die for the shape and showcased it on a background of Simple Stories Summer Fresh papers. I highlighted the lid with a grey marker and added brown twine to give it some punch.     “Down Home” Card Answers Sketch Challenge

    I guess I’ve been in the patriotic mood lately with Memorial Day on the horizon and Independence Day not so far behind, so that’s right where my mind went when I saw the newest Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I really like rustic papers when it comes to stars and stripes, but I actually have VERY little patriotic paper. *Gasp* A shocker, I know. In order to achieve my desired look, I roughed up, painted and/or inked everything I used to give this card a tattered look. With the addition of the raffia and the stitching, it kind of has that “down home” feel.
