I am so excited to get back into the Operation Write Home challenges this week and this sketch was a good one. I didn’t think I would appreciate all the many layers incorporated in the sketch, but after the project was completed I was pleasantly surprised at how well I liked the finished product. I used My Mind’s Eye “The Sweetest Thing – Tangerine” paper pad and some kraft paper to create my card. The inking and stamping was done with Quick Quotes powder puff chalking ink in Java. Perhaps best of all, I finally got a chance to use my Stampabilities “Be Strong” clear stamp that has been taking up space on my craft table for so long. I just love it when I find the perfect spot to use a tool.

A Good Card Day

A Good Card Day

OWHcards

I finally sent another shipment of cards to Operation Write Home (OWH) this morning. Some were old, some were new and some were nearing a submission deadline. Between my sister and I, we were able to create 35 custom cards for America’s troops this time around, and I always feel a bit more patriotic on the days I drop them in the mail.

If you’re not familiar with OWH, it’s a not-for-profit organization that gathers and distributes homemade cards to our troops across the globe. The troops can then select cards to send back to their friends and family so that they can keep in touch. Let’s face it, there isn’t a Hallmark store on every corner overseas.

A Way With Pink and Gray

A Way With Pink and Gray

pinkandgrayOkay, so I learned from today’s OWH Midweek Throwdown that I need more pink in my life! I really had to dig for some pink paper that wasn’t covered in hearts or brightly covered polka dots. That being said, I have no idea from what collection these papers came,  I wish I had stamped my sentiment higher up on the banner and I’ve discovered a need for a dark gray ink. . . let’s see, that about covers it. Other than those few minor details, it’s not a bad way to fulfill today’s challenge.
