Colorful Marine Critters for OWH

Colorful Marine Critters for OWH

animalcards

Our Daily Bread Designs sponsors a challenge through Operation Write Home each month and February is all about designing with animals. Yeah!! I’m so excited, because this was the perfect excuse to use my new Recollections marine animal stamps that are so absolutely cute! I had a great time creating these little critter cards and have several more I want to make. I used basic papers and simple accents, and pulled out my markers to make things colorful. I also added simple messages and splashes of Stickles to add a bit of sparkle. Click on images to enlarge.

My Best OWH Cards of 2014

My Best OWH Cards of 2014

2014 was an interesting blogging year for me. My original blog, Small Talk Mama, completely crashed and burned in October and I lost lots of information associated with it. I consequently began Life at the Quarter-Acre Wood and decided to slow down my posting lifestyle and enjoy the process a bit more. But alas, I felt the pull to rebuild Small Talk Mama and so here I am again. . . While this blog may still be a bit under construction, it hasn’t stopped me from constructing cards for Operation Write Home. I believe in this organization, am thankful for the heroes it supports and love the creative outlet OWH gives me for creating cards.

So without further ado, let me wish you a “Happy New Year” and let you take a look at some of my favorite OWH cards of 2014 (compiled from Small Talk and Quarter-Acre Wood — they’re both me). May you and our country feel God’s blessings this year.

Sharing a Little “Love” Love

Sharing a Little “Love” Love

vdaycards2

Although it’s still December, the deadline for Operation Write Home Valentine cards is today (and these little cuties are still sitting in my “send” box),  so I wanted to share a bit of “love” love with you this morning. I made them right before Christmas with the intention of setting them free, but, as usual, the holidays caught up with me and the cards didn’t make it to the post.

I used different techniques and tools to create each of these cards, but what they have in common is their basic design. I added dimension by using stamps, embossing folders, punches, twine, pop dots and paper. They are both just a combination of different items at my disposal, but I like how each of them came together for a unique little Valentine greeting.
