When a Non-Plan Comes Together

When a Non-Plan Comes Together

MixedIdeas

Yes, I’ve been creative. Yesterday as I finished the sketch challenge card, I got inspired. While I didn’t really care for the design of the challenge card, I did like aspects of it and the colors reminded me of another card I started (but never completed) a couple of weeks ago for a different challenge site.

As I looked at all the papers in my Family Ties paper pad by Pebbles, I noticed that they coordinated with a large stamp I had already colored. In fact, as I started assembling this new design, I was amazed at how cohesive everything looked. I love it when a non-plan comes together! The polka dot paper did come from a different paper collection, but other than that I used my Family Ties. With the addition of some green brads and orange ribbon, this card was complete. . . and I like it better than the inspiration.

Cool Colors and Texture for Sketch Challenge Card

Cool Colors and Texture for Sketch Challenge Card

Mojo Monday

mojo485I’m spending a lazy, gray Presidents’ Day at home with my son, the Wii and my craft room (not necessarily in that order). We had plans for the zoo, but the drizzle and cool breezes changed our minds on that outing. So instead of enjoying the unusually warm February weather outdoors, I decided to get a jump on this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge (yup, and it’s only Monday). This week’s sketch is a fun, multi-layered design that easily translates into a card with some great texture and colors.

The Sweetest Thing 6×6 paper pack from My Mind’s Eye was the inspiration for this card, and I used four different patterns from that pack. I simply love the colors in this collection! I added some twine and buttons to the design and inked all the edges for a fun card with loads of interest. With a simple stamped sentiment, this cute little thing can be used for many different occasions.

Ragamuffin Card – Mojo Sketch Challenge

sketch challenge

sketch challengeI am so glad I have a clean craft room! My little guy has been sick and homebound the last couple of days, so we’ve spent several hours downstairs playing and crafting the days away. Yesterday afternoon while my son was playing the Wii, I found some time to flip the sketch and create a cute little card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge.

The printed papers, including the Raggedy Ann and Andy print, were all part of the Iron Orchard Ragamuffin 6×6 pad by Creative Imaginations. I created the “hello you” tag with an old stamp I had (I think from Stampin’ Up) and some cream cardstock. I roughed up the edges of the tag and added a tad bit of pink watercolor pencil for some interest and age. I found the two-toned pink and brown ribbon in my stash and I inked all the edges for some texture and warmth. I think I can send this one to an adult or child alike.
