Green Beans, Goulash & My Garden

My son and I are making a quick weekend visit to my hometown for my great niece’s high school graduation (which is finally happening), and after several hours on the road it’s always nice to sit down to a delicious home cooked meal. Mom whipped up a huge batch of very cheesy goulash for the three of us, but I supplied the tasty side — fresh green beans. Thankfully, I had delayed our departure from the city long enough to pick a few green beans from our garden and they were delicious!

Earlier this week I picked the last of the lettuce and kale, which made great salads to go alongside our homemade pizza, and we have nibbled on a few fresh peas here and there. The okra is growing the tomatoes are bearing and the cucumbers are beginning to climb. I even decided to poke in a few pumpkin seeds where the lettuce used to be, hoping for some jack o’ lanterns just in time for Halloween.

All-in-all, I have been very happy with our yummy garden harvest this year, but don’t as me what became of the radishes, onions and cauliflower. . .
