Gray Skies and a Contentious Woman

We have been discussing the book I Will! Nine Traits of the Outwardly Focused Christian by Thom S. Rainer  during Wednesday Bible study, and tonight we touched on a verse from Proverbs 27. Verse 17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”

That’s a great verse, but I like to read a few extra verses surrounding specific passages to give a bit of context and that’s when I came across Proverbs 27:15. . .

“A continual dripping on a very rainy day
And a contentious woman are alike;”

I just had to giggle when I read this verse because my first thought was that maybe this woman was so contentious because she has been living through weeks of continual dripping rain (i.e. this so-called spring in the Midwest). Okay, so it’s probably not the appropriate translation of said Bible verse, but I’m thinking I just might have a solid case of weather-related contention and I’m tired of saying sorry for dripping all over the place.
